CATALOG DESCRIPTION: A study of French history, geography, educational system, cultural achievements and government.
DESCRIPTION: A survey from antiquity to modern times, laying stress upon 20th and 21st century culture, geography and government.
TOPICS: An overview of the French people from pre-historic Gaul through the Roman and French eras, to the present century, emphasizing modern times. May not be repeated for credit.
OBJECTIVES: To survey main aspects of French life and culture, instilling in students an awareness of and appreciation for diverse elements that combine to make the French "French". Able to speak at Intermediate-High level.
REQUIREMENTS: Read, understand and comment on the class text, both orally and in writing.
