| CATALOG DESCRIPTION: | Systematic focus on grammar, listening, speaking, writing, and reading. | ||
| DESCRIPTION: | Basic speaking, listening, writing, reading skills and knowledge of the grammar to enable the student to participate in an in-depth review of basic grammar concepts including verb conjugation and aspect and grammatical cases. Homework will mainly consist of written exercises about selected grammar topics. | ||
| TOPICS: | Basic speaking, listening, writing, and reading skills and knowledge of the grammar to enable the students to participate in an in-depth grammar review throughout the semester. Emphasis will also be placed on Russian word formation, including roots and prefixes. | ||
| OBJECTIVES: | By the end of the semester students will be able to: 1)More fully understand the concepts of Russian grammar, especially as pertaining to grammatical cases and verbs; 2)Increase their understanding of Russian word formation and knowlege of roots; 3)Write grammatically correct essays about certain topics; and 4)Read expository and literary excerpts from real Russian sources. | ||
| REQUIREMENTS: | Attendance, written homework (using textbooks and handouts), quizzes, tests, and final exam. | ||
