CATALOG DESCRIPTION: Beginning Arabic. Introduction to the Arabic alphabet and grammar, plus extensive discussions of the culture.

TOPICS: Required texts include:

1. Alif Baa Introduction to Arabic Letters and Sounds.

2. Al-Kitaab fii Taalum al-ArabiyyaA Textbook for Beginning Arabic Part One.
OBJECTIVES: The students will learn to write and pronounce the Arabic alphabet as they learn greetings and classroom vocabulary. From video examples of native speakers they will learn to form present tense sentences to talk about family and studies. They will learn to ask simple questions.
REQUIREMENTS: A final grade will be given based on the completion of and quality of the following:

Daily assignments
Four quizzes
Mid-term exam
Cumulative Final exam
