|CATALOG DESCRIPTION:||Beginners and students with less than two and a half years high school Spanish should register for this class. Not for Spanish-speaking returned missionaries or native speakers. Basic language skills: listening, speaking, reading and writing.|
|DESCRIPTION:||A beginning Spanish course. Establishes the foundation for the four skills.|
|TOPICS:||Begins with the alphabet and basic pronunciation.
Grammar covered includes noun gender and number, adjective agreement, personal pronouns, present tense and present perfect conjugations and usage, reflexive pronouns, ser and estar, comparisons, negatives, formal commands, and direct and indirect object pronouns. Cultural glimpses will be scattered throughout.
|OBJECTIVES:||Students will develop an appreciation for the Spanish language and culture. Will be able to communicate on a very elementary level with limited vocabulary and grammatical skill.|
|REQUIREMENTS:||Students will demonstrate their proficiency and skills on several examinations. They will also be required to show evidence of their preparation and proficiency in oral recitations and on writing assignments.|
