CATALOG DESCRIPTION: Plants grown in homes and gardens are used to introduce biological principles. Laboratory work emphasizes individual projects utilizing living plants. (Winter, Fall)
DESCRIPTION: This is a general introductory botany course for non majors. The class is designed to give a brief over view in a wide variety of botanical topics and current events.
TOPICS: Chemistry, Cell Theory, Genetic engineering, Evolution, Reproduction, Anatomy, Taxonomy and Systematics.
OBJECTIVES: To provide students with an introduction to botany and current issues in science and agriculture. Students are challenged to think critically, to design experiment and to develop writing skills in the area of science.
