CATALOG DESCRIPTION: Must declare Health Education as a major or minor and have completed the majority of freshman and sophomore core work. This class is designed to inform the future teacher about the comprehensive health education environment including both the school and the community health programs and procedures. Introduction to needs assessment, program development, finances evaluation, and implementation of school health programs will be covered.

This class is designed to inform the future teacher about the comprehensive health education environment including both the school and the community health programs and procedures. Introduction to needs assessment, program development, finances evaluation, and implementation of school health programs will be covered.
TOPICS:
OBJECTIVES: Each student will: 1) understand the aspects of a comprehensive Health Ed program and how it affects the school environment, 2) know and demonstrate a plan for enhancing all areas of a comprehensive school health program K thru 12, 3) understand the laws governing health concerns in the school environment, 4) understand the purpose and process of keeping records of health
concerns throughout the school year, 5) develop knowledge of “At Risks” behaviors in students, 6) develop knowledge of programs to meet the health needs of faculty and staff, 7) demonstrate their ability to produce and deliver a high tech presentation, 8) learn and demonstrate the technique for working in groups for educational outcomes.
