GENERAL EDUCATION: This course fulfills a General Education - Basic Skills requirement.

DESCRIPTION: Study and practice of informative and persuasive public speaking, public self-confidence, message structure, presentation stategies and audience adaptation. Practical approach to communication skills needed for success in professional settings, including interviews, proposals and presentations, conducting and moderating meetings, and use of visual media to enhance presentations.
TAUGHT: Winter, Summer, Fall
CONTENT AND TOPICS: Improving public speaking skills and verbal ability, self-confidence, message structure, presentation strategies and audience adaptation.
GOALS AND OBJECTIVES: Overcome speech apprehension. Study the theories of public speaking, audience analysis, presentation strategies, and critical analysis of public speaking. Improve public speaking skills, verbal ability, self-confidence, and audience adaptation. Improve studentís ability to become a critical consumer of public speaking.
REQUIREMENTS: Speech evaluations, quizzes, tests, writing, attendance, peer evaluations, and group work.
