DESCRIPTION: A project-based introduction to visual communication principles, elements and tools. Applications graphic design and editing for print and web-based media.

CONTENT AND TOPICS: A project-based introduction to visual communication principles, elements and tools.
Applications: print and web designing, digital video editing, and graphic design and editing.
GOALS AND OBJECTIVES: Demonstrate understanding and effective use of four basic design principles: proximity, alignment, contrast, and repetition. Demonstrate ability to effectively lay out pages on the computer. Demonstrate ability to create vector-based graphics on the computer. Demonstrate ability to create pixel-based graphics on the computer.
REQUIREMENTS: Quizzes, tests, assignments, projects, handouts, project critiques, lectures and demonstrations.
PREREQUISITES: Communication major or minor or consent of Instructor.
