DESCRIPTION: Examines functions of pictures in the print and online media, how to maximize their effectiveness, and provides experience in picture taking and darkroom procedures. Students must supply their own SLR or digital cameras.

GOALS AND OBJECTIVES: Learn the meaning of Photojournalism and the importance of the visual image in communicating ideas and information. Introduce modern trends in the use of the camera as a tool of communication. Teach the students to recognize and print quality photographs.
REQUIREMENTS: Instructor evaluations, quizzes, tests, demonstrations, photo-essay project, student evaluations, produce images, lab, hands-on experience, lectures, and videos.
PREREQUISITES: Must supply own SLR or digital camera.
OTHER: Supplies fee: $45.
