DESCRIPTION: Examines the theories and dynamics of conflict styles in a variety of contexts. Topics include conflict management strategies, negotiation, third party intervention, and relevant settings for conflict such as workplace, families and interpersonal relationships.

CONTENT AND TOPICS: Examines the theories and dynamics of conflict styles in a variety of contexts. Topics include conflict management strategies, negotiation, third party intervention, and relevant settings for conflict such as workplace, families and interpersonal relationships.
GOALS AND OBJECTIVES: Increase theoretical Knowledge of Conflict Management. Analyze the components that lead to de/constructive conflict. Critically analyze conflict situations. Facilitate practical experiences in conflict. Engage in the process of inquiry that leads to recommendations for designing effective conflict management processes.
REQUIREMENTS: quizzes, tests, reaction papers, journaling, dispute system design, readings, lectures, discussions, role play, self-assessment, observations, research, and ethnographic experiences.
PREREQUISITES: COMM 150. COMM 250 recommended.
