GENERAL EDUCATION: This course does not fulfill a General Education requirement.

DESCRIPTION: This course explores ballet through an understanding of kinesthetic awareness. Developing this conscious attention to the body will allow the dancer to learn the difference between efficient movement and inefficient movement, a principle that can be used not only in dance, but also in every day life.
TAUGHT: Winter, Fall
CONTENT AND TOPICS:
GOALS AND OBJECTIVES: 1.Discover, develop and practice kinesthetic awareness of movement.
2.Enhance technical ability through the understanding of body mechanics.
3.Demonstrate sufficient knowledge of ballet vocabulary.
4.Deveop an understanding of dance as an art form and how it can influence society for the better.
REQUIREMENTS: Class attendance and participation is required. Practical and written evaluations and final exam.
PREREQUISITES: Dance 190 or consent of instructor.
