|DESCRIPTION:||A movement class where advanced rhythm, styles, techniques and choreography of jazz are explored.|
|CONTENT AND TOPICS:|
|GOALS AND OBJECTIVES:||1.Explore jazz dancing as a stylized dance form using dance techinque as a foundation.
2.Draw on other arts as resources.
3.Explore and discover self as a primary instrument of dance, becoming aware of the body and its range and limitations within a gospel context.
4.Learn to trust unique inventiveness, to take risks, to accept challenges to express and give form to feelings and ideas, and to recognize and share these feelings and ideas with others.
5.Learn to distinguish strengths and weaknesses in what is experienced.
6.Develop skills, understanding and attitudes through dance to help externalize reactions to life, appreciate aesthetics, challenge the intellect, and broaden social and spiritual awareness and capacities.
7.Learn about the development of dance by participating in dance forms of the past and present.
|REQUIREMENTS:||Class attendance and participation is required. Practical and written evaluations and final exam.|
