|DESCRIPTION:||This course is designed as a final course in the Elementary Education literacy sequence. It reviews and deepens the teacher candidate's understanding of language instructional strategies and assessment processes. At the conclusion of this course, students are expected to pass the third section of the Idaho State Literacy Exam.|

|GOALS AND OBJECTIVES:||1. Understand the central concepts, tools of inquiry, and structures of literacy assessment.
2. Understand, use, and interpret formal and informal assessment strategies to evaluate and advance student performance and to determine program effectiveness.
3. Understand how students learn and develop, and be able to identify appropriate assessments for the various developmental levels.
