DESCRIPTION: This course looks at the history, governments, culture, religion, society, and current events of West European countries; including but not limited to Great Britain, France, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Spain, Portugal, and Scandinavia.

CONTENT AND TOPICS: This course looks at the history, governments, culture, religion, society, and current events of West European countries; including but not limited to Great Britain, France, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Spain, Portugal, and Scandinavia.
GOALS AND OBJECTIVES: 1. Examine the government structure, politics, economics, and history of the countries of West Europe.
2. Examine and compare the cultural characteristics of the countries of West Europe.
3. Examine and discuss the current issues in the countries of West Europe.
4. Appreciate, understand, and be open to cultural differences and varying worldviews of different peoples, through study and discussions of this region.
REQUIREMENTS: Teaching methods include lectures, readings, and current events projects. Assessments will be based on quizzes, objective tests, and article summaries.
Regular attendance is required. All faculty give assignments, but each determines his/her own combination of text assignments, projects, and tests.
