DESCRIPTION: A study of French history, geography, educational systems, cultural achievements, and government.
TAUGHT: Fall and Winter (even years)
CONTENT AND TOPICS: An overview of the French people from pre-historic Gaul through the Roman and French eras, to the present century, emphasizing modern times. May not be repeated for credit.
GOALS AND OBJECTIVES: -Discuss civilization and culture using course specific facts, concepts, and vocabulary.
-Write about culture, civilization, and history with effective sentence and paragraph structure and using narrative, descriptive, comparison/contrast, persuasive and informative/research discourse in all time frames.
-Demonstrate a grasp of major themes, traditions, historical highlights, and cultures in the Francophone world.
REQUIREMENTS: Discussion, writing, multimedia, presentations, group work, oral proficiency exam, compositions, final essay, final exam.
PREREQUISITES: French 321 with a grade of "C" or better.
