|CONTENT AND TOPICS:||Proficiency-based approaches to speaking, listening, reading, and writing. Historical overview of the profession, overview of diverse methodologies, teaching culture, testing, language acquisition theories, professional organizations, foreign language standards, ACTFL Proficiency Guidelines, foreign language instruction in the elementary schools, specific techniques for teaching particular syntactical domains, etc.|
|GOALS AND OBJECTIVES:||-Learn information on language acquisition theory and the foreign language teaching profession.
-Prepare to function as an effective instructor of foreign language and to assist students in moving to higher levels of proficiency.
-Become familiar with specific foreign language techniques used in elementary and secondary schools.

|PREREQUISITES:||Russian 302 with a grade of "C" or better. Russian Teaching Minors must have completed or be near completing 20 credit hours in a foreign language.|
