GENERAL EDUCATION: This course does not fulfill a General Education requirement.

DESCRIPTION: Continued study of the alphabet and grammar. Selected readings and an in depth look at the culture.
TAUGHT:
CONTENT AND TOPICS: Required texts include:

1. Al-Kitaab fii Taallum al-ArabiyyaA Textbook for Beginning Arabic Part One

2. Hans Wehr, Arabic-English Dictionary
GOALS AND OBJECTIVES: All language learning skills will be developed, reading, writing, listening and speaking. All verb tenses will be taught and the vocabulary will build to 450-500 words. The students will learn the skill of using the Arabic dictionary, which will prepare them for the difficult task of translating formal Arabic.
REQUIREMENTS: A final grade will be given based on the completion of and quality of the following:

Daily assignments
Four quizzes
Mid-term exam
Cumulative Final exam
PREREQUISITES: Arabic 101/101H or equivalent Intermediate Arabic
