DESCRIPTION: An exploration of French literature across the ages.
TAUGHT: Fall and Winter (even years) and Summer
CONTENT AND TOPICS: Principles for analyzing literature, study of symbols, figures of speech, word histories, themes, genres, etc.
GOALS AND OBJECTIVES: -Write cohesive summaries, analyses and reflective responses to literature reflecting sound organization, relevant content, and effective paragraph development.
-Read, interpret, and analyze samples of genres of literature.
-Analyze in writing and in group discussion a literary work, critiquing the piece in terms of plot, setting, background, literary devices, themes, and subject and aesthetic effectiveness.
REQUIREMENTS: Group tasks, guided writing and speaking, presentations, oral proficiency interviews, workbook performance, tests.
PREREQUISITES: French 201 with grade of "C" or higher, or consent of instructor.
