DESCRIPTION: Grammar review and conversation.
TAUGHT: Fall and Winter
CONTENT AND TOPICS: Basic speaking, listening, writing, reading skills and knowledge of the grammar to enable the student to communicate comprehensibly about the themes chosen for the semester.
GOALS AND OBJECTIVES: -Complete simple communicative tasks such as talking and writing about one's health, future plans, traveling, the weather, and ordering a meal in a restaurant.
-Be able to comprehend basic conversations using vocabulary and structures from the communicative tasks covered.
-Be able to skim and scan realia to fulfill certain tasks and answer certain questions.
-Be able to finish their overview of the basic points of Russian grammar including conditional and subjunctive moods, and the declensions of plural nouns and adjectives.
-Increase awareness of cultural issues in Russian world through incorporation of cultural material.
REQUIREMENTS: Cooperative learning, performance activities, discussion, videos, oral exams, peer review, presentations, workbook, in-class checks, unit tests.
PREREQUISITES: Russian 102 with grade of "C" or better, or three and one half years of high school Russian, or consent of instructor.
