GENERAL EDUCATION: This course does not fulfill a General Education requirement.

DESCRIPTION: Methodologies and techniques for evaluations of health and fitness values including body composition, maximal oxygen consumption, antropometric measurements, blood values, blood pressure, stress, nutrition, respiratory, lifestyle habits, etc. Principles of health program prescription based on individual values and recommended improvements.
TAUGHT: Fall, Winter, 1st Summer
CONTENT AND TOPICS: Fitness assessments, nutritional analysis, health assessments, safety precautions, stress management, disease risk analysis,
and lifestyle assessments. Fitness, nutrition, health, and lifestyle program prescriptions.

GOALS AND OBJECTIVES: Students will: 1) develop a working knowledge of the various methodologies of health and fitness assessment, 2) demonstrate health and fitness assessment protocols via hands-on participation and demonstration activities, 3) demonstrate an understanding of health and fitness program development skills, 4) understand the major chronic disease processes and their association to prevention and treatment strategies.
REQUIREMENTS:
PREREQUISITES: HS 131, BIO 264, and BIO 265. Must be a Junior or Senior status.
