DESCRIPTION: An examination of selected primary works of the Hebrew, Greek, Roman, and Medieval periods with historical setting and thematic structure provided by three lectures per week. Areas considered include literature, history, and philosophy

The Odyssey

The Aeneid

The Koran (selections)

The Inferno

Purgatory (selections)

John of Salisbury

St. Francis of Assisi

The Tempest

John Dome
GOALS AND OBJECTIVES: (1) To teach students the importance of the role of ancient texts in their own lives.

(2) To teach students the role of the hero, heroism in the present age, and the role of the family and the heroic life.

(3) To teach students the terrible impact of war on family.
REQUIREMENTS:
PREREQUISITES: Students must have a 3.5 or higher accumulative GPA to take an honors course.
