| CONTENT AND TOPICS: | While the course includes discussions of major political, social, and economic developments, the course focuses mainly on art, architecture, music, and literature. The following topics are presented through lectures, class discussions, readings, slides, videos, and music listening activities. | ||
| GOALS AND OBJECTIVES: | Understand the role of the ancient Western tradition in shaping our modem world. Identify major stylistic developments in the arts. Recognize specific works of art. Understand how the respective art forms are a manifestation of the values of the societies that produced them. |
