|DESCRIPTION:||This course will focus on the development, organization, infrastructure, and operation of a production nursery. This will cover production principles and practices and strategies for wholesale and retail marketing of nursery crops. The laboratory will concentrate on the development of skills associated with the production and marketing of nursery crops.|
|CONTENT AND TOPICS:|
|GOALS AND OBJECTIVES:||-Identify the major segments of a production nurseries business plan.
-Describe the various ways in which production nurseries may be organized and for what purposes.
-Describe the generic production methods for field and container grown nursery crops.
-Describe and identify common equipment and materials used in production nurseries.
-Describe basic principles of crop selection, marketing, and nursery management.
-Evaluate production nurseries based on the concepts learned in class.
