DESCRIPTION: This course teaches general networking principles to provide an understanding of data communication protocols, transmission systems, media, and software.

GOALS AND OBJECTIVES:

  1. Understand the benefits of networking.

  2. Recognize networking topologies and technologies.

  3. Know types and benefits of network cabling and wireless technologies.

  4. Understand the TCP/IP networking standards.

  5. Create a network using multiple computers with different operating systems, and network equipment.

  6. Share files and a printer between the computers.

  7. Create a web site which can be accessed from all computers in the network.


REQUIREMENTS: Read the assigned chapters. Complete assigned homework. Work in a team to complete the network project. Complete exams on schedule.
