GENERAL EDUCATION: This course fulfills a General Education - Religion requirement.

DESCRIPTION: The entire Doctrine and Covenants, including the Official Declarations, will be covered in this course.
TAUGHT: Winter, Fall, Summer
CONTENT AND TOPICS: Considers the history, content, and teachings of the D & C. This course is designed to guide one to becoming a better disciple of the Lord Jesus Christ. Restoration of the Priesthood, coming forth of the Book of Mormon, role of a Prophet, nature of Revelation, Atonement of Jesus Christ, Church organization, missionary work, establishment of Zion, and the Prophesies of the last days are some of the topics that will be covered during this course.
GOALS AND OBJECTIVES: 1. Understand the historical setting and factors that brought about the various doctrines and instructions found therein.
2. Relate those events, doctrinal insights, and instructions given to the early Church to today and apply them within the modern Church and individual lives.
3. Understand the tie-in and process between personal revelation and the doctrines and principles of the Doctrine and Covenants.
4. Bring the doctrines and instructions to a value-based understanding in each life, enabling students to not only live them but teach them to their family, friends, etc.
REQUIREMENTS: Regular attendance is required. All faculty give assignments, but each determines his/her own combination of text assignments, projects, and tests.
