GENERAL EDUCATION: This course does not fulfill a General Education requirement.

DESCRIPTION: This class emphasizes practical teaching experience in both private and group situations. Students will teach average-age beginning students. The course is designed primarily for piano majors. However, any student meeting the course prerequisite is welcome. Grades are prorated accordingly. The class is an extension fo M265A, but may be taken non-sequentially.
TAUGHT: Winter
CONTENT AND TOPICS: In preparation for practicum teaching students will attend lectures on topics which will include piano systems/methods, business practices, basic principles of music education and pedagogical approaches.
GOALS AND OBJECTIVES: Organize a professional studio in preparation for independent piano teaching.
REQUIREMENTS:
PREREQUISITES: Designed primarily for piano pedagogy majors, students enrolled in the course should have a performance competency level that will enable them to adequately participate both in performance and basic theoretical analysis of the music. The course is open to non-majors with an interest in teaching in the home.
