DESCRIPTION: A one semester course presenting the history and general musical styles beginning circa 1900 to the present. An additional study of the vocal and instrumental music genres of the twentieth century.

GOALS AND OBJECTIVES: 1. Gain an understanding of musical styles, movements, and trends of the 20th century.
2. Develop a knowledge of principal composers of the 20th century, their contributions, techniqeus, and styles.
3. Develop a basic knowledge of the music of principal world cultures and their contributions to and influences on the music of our culture.
