| DESCRIPTION: | Provides students the opportunity to study and perform chamber literature from the 17th and 18th century. Issues of Baroque performance practice are considered including instrumentation, articulation, and improvisation. | ||

| GOALS AND OBJECTIVES: | 1. Gain experience in performance practice issues specific to the music of the 17th and 18th centuries, including bowing and articulation, flexible instrumentation, dynamics, notational problems, and improvisation, including solo and figured bass realization. 2. Strengthen listening and ensemble skills. |

| REQUIREMENTS: | Each member of the ensemble is expected to attend, and be on time for all scheduled rehearsals. Attendance at rehearsal should be given the highest priority. Final grades for the course are determined by attendance and reasonable progress on weekly assignments. | ||
