Introduction to Music
INTRO TO MUSIC

GENERAL EDUCATION: This course fulfills a General Education - Arts requirement.

DESCRIPTION: A one-semester course that offers a brief survey of the main periods in music history and examines literature being performed in the various ensembles for the current semester.
TAUGHT: Fall, Winter
CONTENT AND TOPICS: Pre-baroque, Baroque, Classic, Romantic, 20th and 21st Centuries: the main musical forms and composers
GOALS AND OBJECTIVES: Recognize the styles of the main periods in music history.
REQUIREMENTS: Attendance at class is required, as well as at least ten concerts or recitals outside of class.
PREREQUISITES: The students must be enrolled in one of the ensembles (choir, band, orchestra, etc) during the same semester this class is taken.
