GENERAL EDUCATION: This course does not fulfill a General Education requirement.

DESCRIPTION: Instruction in note reading, tuning, basic chords, and in picking and strumming patterns. Outside practice required. Student must furnish own guitar.

CONTENT AND TOPICS: Note reading, tuning, basic chords, picking and strumming patterns.
GOALS AND OBJECTIVES: 1. Learn to play solos
2. Learn strumming and fingerstyle accompaniments
3. Learn to read music and chord symbols
REQUIREMENTS: 1. Class preparation (practice 45 minutes/day, 5-6 days/week) and attendance - 20 percent
2. Perform 1 solo/1 accompaniment/1 transposition for midterm - 40 percent
3. Perform 1 solo/1 fingerstyle accompaniment for final - 40 percent
PREREQUISITES: Student must furnish own guitar.
