|DESCRIPTION:||Beginning Class Piano - Level 3 is a sequel course to Music 107. At the end of the class students will be able to play many hymns from the standard "LDS Hymn Book."
If you can play the standard hymns you should take M158A (Private piano lessons for non-piano majors) (required fee).
|CONTENT AND TOPICS:||Class activities are designed to instruct and clarify concepts in preparation for performance and written examinations.
|GOALS AND OBJECTIVES:||1. Identify and play musical pitches on staff and keyboard.
2. Identify and play primary chords (I, IV, V) in selected keys.
3. Identify and play simple intervals.
4. Sight read simple pieces with both hands.
5. Clap and play basic note values and rhythmic patterns.
6. Identify and apply basic musical terms.
|REQUIREMENTS:||Varies according to instructor. Generally there are weekly performing examinations with some written examinations. Practicing and attendance are required.
|PREREQUISITES:||Music 107 (Class Piano Instruction - Level 2) or equivalent background (easy Classics, Simplified Hymns).
