DESCRIPTION: This course includes learning proper grammar, punctuation, and format of documents; analyzing, composing, and dictating business letters and memos; producing job application documents; researching and creating business reports; interviewing; and giving oral presentations.

CONTENT AND TOPICS: This course provides students the opportunity to improve communication skills through the analyzing, composing, and dictating of various types of business letters, application letters, and reports. Students will also do oral communication projects. Students will complete projects in planning, organizing, composing, revising business messages; understanding business communication; listening; working in teams and understanding nonverbal communication; communicating interculturally and writing persuasive messages
GOALS AND OBJECTIVES: Develop proficiency in the use of English grammar and punctuation in written communications.

Broaden competence in listening, working in teams, and nonverbal communication.

Plan, write, edit business letters, memos, e-mail, and other documents.

Augment skills in communicating on the Internet.

Improve skills in giving an oral presentation and in using presentation tools.

Identify career opportunities and create effective resumes and application letters.

Provide students with applied technical skills in MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
REQUIREMENTS: Exams, student presentation, group presentation, mock interviews, application letter, resume, reports.
PREREQUISITES: English 111 and 22 credit hours.
