DESCRIPTION: Pathophysiology, assessment including 12 lead ECG evaluation and management of cardiac and respiratory emergencies. Includes etiology, signs and symptoms of compromise, clinical implications, treatment protocols, pharmacological & electrical interventions and termination of resuscitation, MEGA-CODE practice and patient assessment and management.

CONTENT AND TOPICS:
GOALS AND OBJECTIVES: Students will integrate pathophysiological principles and assessment findings to formulate a field impression and implement the treatment plan for the patient with cardiovascular disease.
REQUIREMENTS: Paramedic majors only.
PREREQUISITES: Para 280.
OTHER: 12 week class.
