| CONTENT AND TOPICS: | This course is designed to assist the teacher/prospective coach to explore the concepts, ideas, and principles of teaching or coaching track and field fundamentals. The student will be able to understand the learning sequence for the hurdling, jumping, and throwing events. Student will demonstrate and perform basic skills and techniques of these events as well as identify the basic terminology used in the sport of track and field and the basic rules of the sport. Upon completion of this course, students should be able to contribute positively to a coaching staff. | ||
| GOALS AND OBJECTIVES: | The student will: 1. Develop and exhibit a philosophy and knowledge of track and field 2. Exhibit an understanding of various coaching responsibilities and team organization procedures of track and field 3. Become acquainted with and exhibit knowledge of a variety of coaching methods, techniques, and philosophies 4. Understand and exhibit skill of team selection 5. Exhibit skill of coaching and teaching skills and game structures |
