This course is designed to assist volleyball teachers/coaches to learn the sport of volleyball so they would be qualified to teach and/or coach the sport of volleyball as well as develop individual coaching philosophies of the game.
GOALS AND OBJECTIVES: The student will:
1. Learn and exhibit knowledge of history, basic skills, and game rules, etiquette, and basic offenses and defenses of the game of volleyball
2. Guide the neurological development of the six basic skills of the game of volleyball
3. Strive for control during individual practice and in-game settings
4. Develop coordination, strength, and overall general fitness.
5. Encourage positive and hard working social interactions and player leadership qualities between participants in the class and in game participation efforts as well
6. Follow directions, control emotions, and work hard in a training and competitive environment
7. Appreciate bodies and how wonderful they are - and convey this attitude to others
8. Participate, work hard, and strive for excellence
9. Grow in self-confidence and other spiritual values through the development of new and fun abilities that can be enjoyed now and throughout life - and throughout the lives of students they will teach
REQUIREMENTS: The student will:
1. Attend and participate in each class
2. Pass exams and quizzes
3. Learn through discussion, demonstration, handouts, videos, guided interaction, feedback, positive connections
4. Know material from textbook reading assignments, class participation and testing
5. Participate in practice, scrimmages, competitive games one-on-one instruction, tournaments
6. Provide assigned papers, peer evaluation
PREREQUISITES: Must have a knowledge and skills of volleyball.
