GENERAL EDUCATION: This course does not fulfill a General Education requirement.

DESCRIPTION: To provide skills and strategies for beginning basketball.
TAUGHT: Winter, Summer, Fall
CONTENT AND TOPICS: To provide an organized setting in which students can develop skills and strategies in the game of basketball and to give students a periodic opportunity to exercise aimed at cardiovascular development and to place them in an educational environment to develop social skills and interpersonal relationships.
GOALS AND OBJECTIVES: The student will:
1. Develop increased fitness level through the game of basketball
2. Learn and exhibit knowledge and skills used in the game of basketball: pass, dribble, shoot, rebound, ball-handling
3. Increase ability to work as a team
4. Develop skills to teach rules, fundamentals, and strategies of basketball
5. Exhibit skill to organize a team
REQUIREMENTS: The student will
1. Attend class and participate.
2. Be a beginning basketball student.
3. Learn through lecture, demonstration, observation
4. Learn offense and defense basketball
5. Participate in drills and all other activities
6. Pass skill tests
PREREQUISITES:
OTHER: BYU-I clothing is required
