GENERAL EDUCATION: This course does not fulfill a General Education requirement.

DESCRIPTION: To provide advanced swimmers to learn and swim at a more advanced level.
TAUGHT: Winter, Summer, Fall
CONTENT AND TOPICS: An advanced swimming class designed to instruct students beyond intermediate swimming skills and strokes. This class will consist mostly of work-outs.
GOALS AND OBJECTIVES: 1. Polish strokes so students swim with more ease, efficiency, powr, and smoothness over greater distances using six strokes
2. Learn basic diving skills on the one meter diving boards
3. Learn open and flip turns
4. Complete a 12-minute swim test at beginning and end of course
5. Show proficiency in advanced skills
REQUIREMENTS: 1. Pass all requirments as outlined in the advanced course of the American Red Cross.
2. Show swimming proficiency in advanced skills
3. Do non-stop swimming with a variety of strokes
4. Pass written exams
PREREQUISITES: Student must have passed intermediate swimming
OTHER: BYU-I clothing is required
