DESCRIPTION: Hands on experience determining soil texture, structure, color, measuring soil pH, nitrates, and fertilizers.
TAUGHT: Fall, Winter and Summer
CONTENT AND TOPICS: * Determine soil texture, structure, and color.
* Understand soil chemical properties including measuring soil pH, nitrate level, soil fertility levels, and fertilizers.
* Soil mapping as well as other soil characteristics.
GOALS AND OBJECTIVES: 1. Gain hands-on experience to understand the physical, biological, and chemical properties of soil.
2. Apply information from the classroom to laboratory experiments that pertain to agricultural situations.
