DESCRIPTION: Social legislation processess; analysis of social policy and the knowledge available to social workers for involvement in social planning and policy change.

CONTENT AND TOPICS: Social legislation processess; analysis of social policy and the knowledge available to social workers for involvement in social planning and policy change.
GOALS AND OBJECTIVES: Develop an understanding of the history of Social Work and social welfare services and the role of policy delivery in Social Work practice.
The student will understand the role of policy in service delivery and practice and attainment of individual and social well being.
Develop knowledge and skills to understand and analyze organizational, local, state, national, and international issues in social welfare policy and social service delivery.
Develop skills to use policy practice to influence, formulate, and advcocate for policy consistent with Social Work values.
REQUIREMENTS: Participate in small group, 4 exams covers readings, lectures and discussions, quizzes,
five page paper, participate in group discussions.
