DESCRIPTION: Supervised field experience in a social service agency. Supervision by a social worker. Experience and intervention to apply knowledge, values and practice skills in actual social work settings.
TAUGHT: Winter, Summer, Fall starting Fall 04
CONTENT AND TOPICS: Supervised field experience in a social service agency. Supervision by a social worker. Experience and intervention to apply knowledge, values and practice skills in actual social work settings.
GOALS AND OBJECTIVES: Develop self awareness related to social work skills and intervention. Supervised experience in social work interventions. Use of professional communications (oral and written). Experience with agency policies and procedures (eg) individual, group, community with diverse client populations.
REQUIREMENTS: The student will attend and participate in practicum processing days, complete assignments from course workbook as scheduled. The student will also become familiar with all program goals and objectives and exhibit professional knowledge, values and skills within various field placements. A passing grade of C or better upon evaluation of agency field instructor and field work coordinator.
PREREQUISITES: Social work major, senior class standing. SW 260, SW 362, SW 364, SW 365, SW 367 and permission of instructor.
