DESCRIPTION: Role of Law Enforcement in our society. Analysis of police procedures and practices.
TAUGHT: Winter, Fall even years
CONTENT AND TOPICS: Topics will include Deadly Force, Crime Prevention, Education, Ethnic Relations, Police Training and Recruiting. Selective Enforcement and Future of Police.
GOALS AND OBJECTIVES: This course is designed to provide student with an ability to analyze the function of police in American society with a view toward present policy and practice and future directions.
REQUIREMENTS: Text, outside reading, 2 major exams, 10 page term paper.
PREREQUISITES: Intro to Criminology is suggested.
