| DESCRIPTION: | This course is designed to give students actual field experience in Social Work. Field placements are available for students to gain this experience, thus enabling the students to appraise both their capabilities and desire to enter the Social Work field. Supervision is provided by the instructional staff of the college and/or the cooperative agencies. | ||

| CONTENT AND TOPICS: | Field experience four hours a week in a local social service agency. The student will be supervised by a social worker within the agency as well as the field work coordinator on campus. The student will gain limited experience and knowledge in some area of social work that will help them address their future desire to enter the Social Work profession. | ||
| GOALS AND OBJECTIVES: | The purpose of this course is to allow the student to gain minimal experience through a placement in an actual social work agency. This experience will prepare the student to become more competent in a generalist social work practice, thus allowing them to apply and integrate a variety of social work methods. | ||
| REQUIREMENTS: | The student will attend class on assigned days, maintain a weekly journal of their experiences, and complete all assignments given by the instructor. The student will also become familiar with all program goals and objectives and exhibit professional knowledge, values and skills within various field placements. | ||
