GENERAL EDUCATION: This course does not fulfill a General Education requirement.

DESCRIPTION: May be repeated for credit with consent of instructor. An introduction to the basic principles of directing, coupled with extensive experience in directing two scenes and a one-act play; designed to prepare students for directing assignments in church, educational, and community theatre.Basic principles of directing for the theatre, coupled with extensive practicum experience.
TAUGHT: Winter 2005
CONTENT AND TOPICS: Script interpretation, composition in set design, composition in blocking, composition in lighting, working with actors, style, and putting it all together to create a complete stage experience.
GOALS AND OBJECTIVES: Experience the synergism of connecting principles of directing and the Gospel. Strengthen capacity to make decisions that impact the lives of others. Demonstrate an understanding of the beginning principles of directing. Gain exposure to other directing approaches. Gain exposure to director's and product.
REQUIREMENTS: Three directing projects, director's book and journal, quizzes on chapter and attendance.
PREREQUISITES: Students with Junior status who have completed TA 123: Acting One, or consent of instructor.
