|DESCRIPTION:||A companion laboratory course for Chemistry 150.|
|CONTENT AND TOPICS:||Experiments selected to teach organic chemistry techniques (such as recrystallization, melting points and chromatography), synthesis of compounds, characterization of functional groups, isolation and reactions of biochemically important groups.|
|GOALS AND OBJECTIVES:||Lay the foundation to comprehend the chemical basis of biochemical processes.
Begin to grasp some of the abstract concepts of organic chemistry and biochemistry.
|REQUIREMENTS:||Typically there are 10 experiments which require a lab report and a quiz.|
|PREREQUISITES:||Concurrent registration in Chem 150. This lab cannot be taken after the completion of Chem 150.|
