| DESCRIPTION: | Builds on the Renaissance tradition while exploring different styles of art such as Cubism, Expressionism, and Non-European art. | ||

| CONTENT AND TOPICS: | -- Review and expand the students understanding and application of Renaissance drawing principles to contemporary problems, experimenting with, for example, applied versus theoretical perspective in the contemporary landscape. -- Teach and apply Cubist theory and technique. -- Expand Cubist theory to explore Futurist concepts or Russian Supremacist theory. -- Introduce intuitive image making ideas such as Zen drawing and painting or Surrealist automatism. -- Synthesize Renaissance and Modernist approaches, seen in Pop Art. -- Explore social and personal themes within the egocentric traditions of Expressionism. -- Explore a personal direction, applying ideas and experiences to create as a consistent portfolio of drawing using one of the processes learned earlier in the semester. |
