GENERAL EDUCATION: This course does not fulfill a General Education requirement.

DESCRIPTION: Introduction to the book arts, relief printing, letter press printing, papermaking, and book binding. This is open to both Art Majors and non-Art Majors.
TAUGHT: Fall, Winter
CONTENT AND TOPICS: -- Have an overview of graphic design history and contemporary professional practice book design.
-- Be introduced to relief printing, specifically woodcuts or linocuts, metal type, and zinc or polymer plates.
-- Have an Introduction to binding and box making.
-- Have an introduction to papermaking.
-- Explore book concepts, planning, and organization.
