GENERAL EDUCATION: This course does not fulfill a General Education requirement.

DESCRIPTION: An intensive study of photographic principles covering both black-and-white and color imaging.

TAUGHT: Fall, Summer
CONTENT AND TOPICS: Students will learn basic technical skills of black-and-white and color photography including: film and digital camera operation, film developing and printing, film scanning and printing, and presentation. Students will also be introduced to aesthetic principles, color theory, and the history of photography. This will be accomplished through in-class critiques, lectures, and lab instruction.
GOALS AND OBJECTIVES: -- Gain an understanding of technical aspects of photography (camera operation, darkroom skills, presentation technique) and aesthetics involved.
-- Produce technically sound and aesthetically pleasing photographs.
-- Produce a portfolio of photographs which demonstrate proficiency in the medium.
