|DESCRIPTION:||Principles and theory, diagnosis and repair of clutch mechanisms, manual transmissions and transaxles, transfer cases, drive shafts, and drive axles. Students must also register for an Auto 165L lab.|
|CONTENT AND TOPICS:||Clutches, manual transmissions and transaxles, transfer cases, drive lines, u-joints, and differentials.|
|GOALS AND OBJECTIVES:||Obtain a working knowledge of the automobile drive train.
Gain as much experience as possible on as many types of projects relating to this topic as available.
Give the students hands-on experience similar to that received in the automotive trade.
|REQUIREMENTS:||Students will be required to attend lectures and demonstrations, participate in class discussions, complete textbook assignments, observe multi-media presentations and memorize automotive parts. Learning assessment will consist of worksheets, tests, classroom presentations and a research paper.|
|PREREQUISITES:||Automotive major or consent of the instructor.|
|OTHER:||Students are not permitted to work on their own cars in this class. If your car needs repaired, it will be repaired by another student in the class.|
