GENERAL EDUCATION: This course does not fulfill a General Education requirement.

DESCRIPTION: Emphasis on computer controlled systems. Advanced systems diagnosis of automotive systems covered; also repair or service recommendations concerning vehicle systems.
TAUGHT: Winter
CONTENT AND TOPICS: Special emphasis will be placed on electronic engine controls, theory of operation, diagnosis and repair. Lab time will be devoted to diagnosis, understanding test equipment, building competence, quality, speed and neatness. Work will be concentrated on under hood problems on computer controlled vehicles. Primarily, work will be diagnosis and repair oriented but may include other computer related systems such as ABS systems, etc. Each student is expected to work his best.
GOALS AND OBJECTIVES: Understand electronic engine controls, theory of operation, diagnosis, use of test equipment and repair. Analyze ability to earn a living as an automotive technician. Build competence, quality, speed, and neatness.
REQUIREMENTS: Students will be required to attend lectures, demonstrations and complete a research paper. Practical hands-on experience and observation will assess the learning.
PREREQUISITES: Successful completion of Auto 225, Auto 235 and Labs.
