| DESCRIPTION: | Emphasis on classification, anatomy, physiology, behavior, ecology, and the medical and agricultural significance of the invertebrates. | ||

| CONTENT AND TOPICS: | The class will include a brief introduction to systematics and then a detailed examination of the major invertebrate phyla. The lab will emphasis the use of microscopy and dissections to study in detail one or more representative specimens from each of the phyla discussed in lecture. | ||
| GOALS AND OBJECTIVES: | The objective of the course is to teach students the evolutionary relationships among invertebrate phyla, emphasizing similarities and differences among species, and their impact and importance to the world in which we live. | ||
| REQUIREMENTS: | Regularly scheduled lecture and lab exams; participation in a group lab project. | ||
